How shipping is charged

Typical freight cost

Can freight usually runs about $175 to $900. A single pallet typically costs $175–$500, depending on where in the lower 48 it’s going: Michigan and nearby states at the low end, the Mountain states and West Coast at the high end. Our 32oz XL pack ships on two pallets, so its freight typically runs $275–$900. Your exact rate shows at checkout before you pay.

Why freight costs what it does, and how to get more for it

Empty cans are light but bulky, so freight is driven by pallet size and carrier minimums more than weight. A fuller pallet often costs only a little more to ship than a small one. Each pallet holds up to 12 boxes, and you can mix sizes on the same pallet (for example, 4 boxes each of 12oz, 16oz, and 32oz). Filling out a pallet is the easiest way to lower your freight cost per can.

Lead times (time before your order ships)

Product Ships in
Brite cans (including black, sleek, and bulk packs) 2–3 business days
PakTech carriers 2–3 business days
Case trays 2–3 business days
Laser-etched drinkware 2–3 business days
Labeled cans About 3 weeks after you approve your label artwork
Custom BOPP labels About 3 weeks after you approve your label artwork

Orders placed by 12:00 pm Eastern on a business day start processing that day. Business days are Monday–Friday, not counting holidays.

Freight transit comes on top of the lead time:

Delivering to Typical freight transit
Michigan 1–2 business days
Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin 1–3 business days
Rest of the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic 2–4 business days
New England, the Carolinas, the Plains, the Southeast, and South Central states 3–5 business days
Mountain states and the Southwest 4–6 business days
West Coast 5–7 business days

UPS orders (PakTech carriers and labels) travel by UPS Ground. We email tracking when your order leaves our dock.

Planning a release? Allow the lead time plus transit. For brite cans that’s usually one to two weeks door to door, and for labeled cans and labels about 3 weeks after artwork approval plus transit. If you’re up against a date, call us. We’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.

Delivery: docks, liftgates, and residential addresses

  • Commercial address with a loading dock: this is the standard delivery, and the freight rate at checkout assumes it.
  • No loading dock? You’ll need a liftgate. A liftgate is a truck platform that lowers the pallet to the ground. Ask for it when you order so it’s included in your freight quote.
  • Residential delivery: yes, we can ship to a home address, but residential delivery costs more than delivery to a commercial dock.
  • Receiving the pallet: plan to have someone on site who can receive a pallet and inspect it before signing (see freight damage below).

Local pickup (Caledonia, MI)

Skip freight entirely and pick up your order at our storage facility, 5150 68th St SE, Caledonia, MI 49316. Pickup is available Monday–Saturday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, by appointment. Call 616-881-1720 or email sales@crowlersandmore.com to schedule your pickup.

Freight damage: what to do at delivery

Freight carriers need damage recorded at delivery. Please protect yourself:

  1. Count and inspect the pallet before you sign. Look for crushed, torn, or wet boxes and shifted loads.
  2. Write any damage on the delivery receipt (bill of lading) before signing, e.g. “2 boxes crushed.” Damage that isn’t noted at delivery is much harder to claim.
  3. Take photos of the pallet, the boxes, and the damage, with the packaging still in place.
  4. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at 616-881-1720 or sales@crowlersandmore.com with your order number and photos.
  5. Keep the damaged product and packaging until we’ve sorted it out. The carrier may need to inspect it.

We’ll work with you and the carrier on the claim and let you know the options for replacement or credit.

Returns

Every situation is different, so we review returns case by case. There’s no fixed return window and no standard return fee. Just tell us what happened and we’ll work out the fairest solution together.

  • Something wrong with your order? If items are defective, damaged, or not what you ordered, contact us right away and we’ll work with you on a fix.
  • Made-to-order items are generally final sale. Labeled cans, custom BOPP labels, and laser-etched drinkware are produced to your artwork or design, so we can’t resell them. They can’t be returned unless they’re defective or we made an error.
  • Stock items (brite cans, can ends, trays, PakTech carriers): if you ordered the wrong size or quantity, or simply changed your mind, call or email us. We’ll review it case by case and let you know your options, including any return freight costs, before anything ships back. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.
  • Please contact us before sending anything back so we can arrange the best way to handle it.
  • Refunds: approved refunds go back to your original payment method. We’ll confirm the timing when we approve your return.

Cancellations and changes

Cancellations are handled case by case too. The sooner you reach us, the more options we have, especially before an order leaves our dock or before labeled cans and labels go into production. Call 616-881-1720 or email sales@crowlersandmore.com as soon as possible.
